Woodie Williams is a dedicated attorney with a diverse background in public service, litigation, and policy. His practice focuses on insurance defense, criminal defense, and landlord-tenant law, drawing on his extensive experience in both criminal prosecution and civil litigation.
Before joining Ellis Painter, Woodie served as an Assistant District Attorney in Chatham County, where he managed a demanding caseload, prosecuted criminal cases, and gained significant courtroom experience. He also worked as a Summer Associate at Ichter Davis, contributing to high-stakes civil litigation by assisting in trials, conducting legal research, drafting motions, and developing case strategies.
Woodie graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alabama School of Law, ranking 14th in his class. He was a Capstone Legal Scholar, a Trial Team member, and an editor for the Alabama Law & Psychology Review. He was also a member of the Bench and Bar Honor Society, Law and Economics Society, Christian Legal Society, and the Federalist Society.
Beyond the courtroom, Woodie has been actively involved in law and policy. He served as a Legal Intern for the U.S. House of Representatives (Congressman Buddy Carter) and as a Legal Fellow with the Fund for American Studies, focusing on originalist legal perspectives. As an Academy Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, he engaged in policy discussions on key national issues.
Woodie holds a Summa Cum Laude degree in Economics from Georgia Southern University, with minors in English and Finance. He founded the university’s Economics Club and served as Senior Editor of the Armstrong Fine Arts Journal.
As a fourth-generation Savannian, Woodie is deeply committed to serving his community, working to help Savannah thrive while preserving its rich history and character.
